What goes wrong on a Viking stove
A Viking professional range is really two appliances bolted together: a heavy burner deck on top and a gas or convection oven below. On induction cooktops there is no flame at all; a dead zone means the inverter board or coil, not a burner. When the VariSimmer setting flares or dies, the brass orifice is usually clogged or the surface control valve has drifted. We clean, re-jet and re-calibrate the burner.
Uneven or yellow flame
A lazy, yellow or uneven flame on a sealed or open burner points to a blocked port, a fouled cap or an air-shutter mix that’s out of spec.
Induction zone won’t heat
On induction cooktops a failed inverter board, a cooked coil or an error code stops a zone from powering pans. We diagnose the board before quoting parts.
Surface control unresponsive
A dead knob, an electronic surface control that won’t register, or a relay that has welded shut all leave a burner stuck off — or stuck on.
Gas smell or weak flame
A faint gas odor, a flame that lifts off the port, or a valve that’s slow to open is a safety issue. We pressure-check the manifold and the burner valves.

What Bay Area cooks say
